Blended Tea

Blending your own herbal tea is a wonderful, comforting way to take good care of your body and soul.  My favorite blends tend to be colorful to the eye (and hopefully to the palate as well).  Whether they are medicinal, or just tasty, a blended tea may also be a wonderful gift.

I recently blended some herbal tea for a dear friend.  It is a good blend for someone who wants to relax before they begin a hard day at work, or unwind in the evening.  It is also excellent for people who suffer from mild digestive inflammation. The colors are gorgeous, and the flavors are subtle, but pleasing.

Tea for Mary:
(yields about 10 oz of loose leaf tea, all measurements are approximate)

4 tbsp. Tulsi
4 tbsp. Peppermint
3 tbsp. Lemon Balm
1/4 c. Gogi Berries
2 tbsp. Calendula Petals
1 1/2 tbsp. Cornflower Petals

Use your hands to mix, and slightly crush, the dried herbs until the colors are beautifully mixed.  Store in an air-tight, opaque container or bag until use.  When you’re ready to brew a cup boil some water and measure about 1/2 tbsp – 1 tbsp of the blend.  Place the measured amount in a strainer, teapot, cotton tea bag (whatever you like to use). Pour the hot water over the tea and steep for 5 – 7 minutes.

This tea is lovely with a touch of honey.
