Recipe: Browned-Butter, Sage, and Squash Pasta Sauce

This pasta sauce is actually wonderful as a standalone dish.  If you cook it until the squash has just softened, and remove it from the heat, it can serve as a fantastic side in a Thanksgiving dinner.
The savory elements may be subbed with ginger, mace, cinnamon, and maple syrup, to create a sweet and spicy alternative.  The bacon fat can be replaced with grape-seed oil, and the broth changed to veggie, for a meat-free alternative.

 Squash is versatile, have some fun.
